Cornel Fugaru s-a născut pe 2 decembrie 1940, īn Bucureşti şi a fost liderul fomaţiei Sincron (1964-1978), o trupă cu un succes răsunător īn anii '70. El a fost şi cel care a pus bazele formaţiei.
Printre premiile cāştigate de artist se numără: premiul III la Festivalul Mondial al Tineretului şi Studenţilor de la Sofia (1968), premiul III la Festivalul Primăvara cāntecului de la Poznan-Polonia (1978), premiul juriului (1983) şi Marele premiu (1986) la Festivalul de la Mamaia.
